Raiders continue unbeaten streak

BY JAY STRUTH

The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders are now second place  in the WHSHL as their unbeaten streak continues, with four games in hand on the first place Dauphin Clippers, who sit just four points ahead.

The Raiders kept up their winning ways Wednesday night in Killarney, beating the Neepawa Tigers 8-4.

Connor Martin would score first for the Raiders on Wednesday (assisted by Byron Labossiere) after the Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 first period lead. Martin led the way for the home team, scoring half their points.

Seven more Killarney/Wawanesa goals would follow the first: Carter Bartley (Josh Archambault); Connor Martin (Kyle O’Connor, Jesse Wilton); Josh Archambault (Connor Martin, Kyle O’Connor); Mac Heide (Kyle O’Connor, Connor Martin); Connor Martin (Mac Heide, Byron Labossiere); and two shorthanded goals in the third period from Josh Archambault and Connor Martin (Kyle O’Connor, Mac Heide).

Kyle O’Connor currently sits in third place in league scoring with 25 points, followed by fellow Raiders Josh Archambault and Connor Martin with 22, and Logan Gudnason with 20. Goalie Myles Ganske’s save percentage is a stellar 0.932, which is good enough to place him amongst the WHSHL’s top three tenders.

The Raiders are back at the Shamrock Centre on Wednesday, December 7 when they take on the Boissevain/Souris Broncos.

STELLAR SAVE – Myles Ganske, of the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders, makes another wicked save on Wednesday night to hold the Neepawa Tigers off the score sheet in the third period. It was an 8-4 final, as the Raiders continue their winning streak and currently sit in second place in the league, just two points back of the Dauphin Clippers.
