New Jaws of Life for Killarney Fire Department

SHARP NEW JAWS OF LIFE – Killarney-Turtle Mountain Fire Department members cut the door off a van on Monday evening with their new Jaws of Life set, which arrived last week. The entire fire practice was spent cutting up the vehicle with the new four-piece set, which includes a cutter, a spreader, a ram, and a combo tool. The purpose of the practice was to familiarize members with their powerful new equipment. Keep scrolling to see more about the new Jaws set, along with a blast from the past featuring the old Jaws when they were new.

AWESOME JAWS DONATION – Killarney Fire Chief Troy Cuvelier (left) and Deputy Fire Chief Sean Phillips (right) flank Killarney Kinsmen members (from left) Bart Sutherland, Ken Closen, Paul Smith, Jim Hawkins, Terry Little, Geoff Janz and Dean Kinley. The Kinsmen donated the remaining balance ($17,069) needed to purchase the Jaws of Life set back in May. “The Jaws are awesome,” said the fire chief.

OUT WITH THE OLD JAWS – Back in the spring, former Fire Chief Jack Garabed (centre) posed with the second generation Jaws of Life, along with Deputy Fire Chief Sean Phillips (left) and Fire Chief Troy Cuvelier (right). See below for the 1982 photos of the arrival 40 years ago of the first set of Jaws – back when Jack was deputy chief.
