The arrival of a new dentist this week is being celebrated at the local practice.

Dr. Danielle Mansfield, of the Turtle Mountain Dental Group, is happy to welcome her new associate dentist, Dr. Jessica Armah, to the bustling Killarney Dental office.

“Her first day at the Killarney office was on Tuesday, March 1,” said Dr. Mansfield, who took over from previous owner Dr. Kevin Mark last September. “We are so excited to welcome Dr. Armah to the practice, and to the community. It’s been great to have her here. She just started this week, and it’s good to take a little bit of the pressure off. It’s been very busy.”

Dr. Armah is originally from Winnipeg, and completed her Bachelor of Science degree there at the University of Manitoba. She went on to pursue dentistry in Poznan, in Poland, and graduated from their five-year DDS program at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences.

She then returned home to Canada, and successfully completed the two-year DDS Advanced Placement Program at the University of Alberta to obtain her Canadian DDS.

Returning to her Manitoba roots, and finding a new life here in Killarney has been wonderful, said the new dentist, who only arrived in town this past weekend.

“This is a dream come true, to finally get to start working,” said Dr. Armah on Wednesday. “It’s been a long road, and I’m grateful to God, my family, and my friends, and for all the support I’ve received along the way, and I’m so happy to be here. I’ve only been in Killarney since Sunday, but so far, so good. My days have been busy in the clinic, so I haven’t gotten out to see much of the town yet. I’ve eaten at Subway in Bossevain, and here in Killarney I’ve eaten at the Chinese restaurant.”

A long list of congratulations and words of welcome on the Dental Group’s Facebook page, following the announcement of their new dentist, also gave her great pleasure, she added.

“I’m so excited to be here, and so far everybody has been so lovely. It’s nice to be really well received and welcomed here,” said Dr. Armah. “I saw all the messages on Facebook that everybody wrote. I saw them, I read them all, and I appreciate the very warm welcome.”

Turtle Mountain Dental Group is also continuing with their plans to open a second, satellite practise in Boissevain. Work is currently underway on construction of this build, and dental equipment will soon be installed.

“We are hoping to be open and operational later this spring, as we have been somewhat impacted by the COVID supply chain issues,” said Dr. Mansfield.
