Finance officer Meghan Cuvelier Klassen has been promoted to the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain.
After applying for the advertised position, following the departure of previous CAO Karen Patterson, Cuvelier Klassen was successful in securing the new role.
“I started last Wednesday, on May 25, but I haven’t moved my office yet,” said Cuvelier Klassen, who first joined the civic office team back in November of 2016. “I’m looking forward to a new challenge, and excited to step into this role with the municipality. We have lots going on this year, so I’m sure it will be a busy summer. But we have a great crew here, and I’m eager to keep things moving forward.”
One of her first changes was to create a new position, Assistant CAO, to replace the previous role she had as Finance Manager. Her experience in that role has given her the impetus to make this change, and advertisement for candidates starts this week, she said.
Another change coming is that plans for the major renovation of the current civic offices and adjacent disused fire hall, constructed in the late 1960s/early ‘70s, are moving forward.
Westman Specialty Contracting was awarded the tender, she added, and work on the major upgrade is scheduled to begin in late August.
