Raiders on top in the WHSHL
TOP SPOT – The first place Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders played some Halloween hockey during their last Killarney game on Sunday, October 31, beating the Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn Falcons 6-2. Raiders’ goalie Nathan Elder (above) kicks the puck aside, while (below) number 3 Russell Outhwaite moves his man off the puck, and number 14 Josh Archambault looks for another goal as the Raiders jumped out to 3-0 lead in the first period. The Halloween win put the Raiders in a two way tie for top spot in the WHSHL with the Vincent Massy Vikings, who the Raiders beat the following Sunday to take sole possession of first place in the league. Next, on November 17, the Raiders won in exciting fashion in a shootout against the Neepawa Tigers, 6-5. Their next home games are in Wawanesa on Friday, November 26 versus Grand Plains, and the next night, Saturday, November 27 in a rematch against Neepawa in Killarney’s Shamrock Centre.
