Slick shamrock illuminates town’s new logo

A vibrant new logo, featuring a distinctive green shamrock, is being rolled out this week by the municipality.
The process of updating the old logo began in the spring of 2019, and after much deliberation and creative input, a final design was selected.
“Council chose this new logo that you see back in mid-June,” said Meghan Cuvelier Klassen, finance manager for the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. “We have been waiting to release it to the public with the new website and mobile app at the same time. It will appear on Friday, November 20, on our municipal website, and you can also download it from the App store. It will also be appearing on our Facebook page and on Twitter. Over time it will be rolled out onto our municipal stationery.”
The design of the sleek new logo was created by All-Net, a company that deals with municipal solutions, and includes working on websites, online tools, mobile applications, and service trackers.
An earlier logo presented by the company had been chosen by council, but some negative feedback from the community meant they returned to All-Net for another crack at the design.
Criticism of the previous logo last February involved comments that it did not reflect the Irish roots of Killarney, or the agricultural aspect of the municipality, and that it was too generic, said Cuvelier Klassen.
“Council decided to go back to the drawing board, and try to address the feedback with a new design,” she said. “The shamrock was very important to the public. Council listened to the feedback.”
The cost for the original creation of the first new logo by All-Net was priced at $5,000.
This newer and revamped version, released this week, did not involve any further charges, she added, and there was no extra burden put onto the taxpayer.
“There were no additional costs,” she said. “It was all included in the original price by the company.”
All–Net had managed to cleverly integrate all the themes that council was seeking, and came up with a sleek and attractive design, said Cuvelier Klassen – including a verdantly variegated shamrock.
The design company All-Net wrote in their ‘brand rationale,’ part of their email presentation to council, the following:
“The new logo recognizes Killarney’s Irish heritage by using three shapes strategically arranged to symbolically form a shamrock. In addition, these individual shapes reflect the various communities that have united to make Killarney -Turtle Mountain one whole. The intertwining lines within the shamrock shapes give homage to the rolling hills and agriculture unique to the region. The subtle use of wheat also recognizes Killarney’s heavy involvement in agriculture endeavours.”
