Municipality announces staffing changes at Shamrock Centre
Things are changing down at the local recreation complex, with two new staff member appointments announced this week.
Wendy Giesbrecht of Boissevain will be the new recreation manager, replacing Heather Hiebert who held her post with Killarney Recreation for the past 13.5 years, including the last 10 at the Shamrock Centre.
Giesbrecht will start her new position on Monday, September 24, bringing with her a wealth of experience in programming, managing facilities, personal training, and fitness/yoga instructing.
Giesbrecht said she is eager to start bringing new programming ideas to the community and surrounding area.
The next new appointment will be Deborah Penner, who will be joining the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain as facility manager at the Shamrock Centre in 2019.
Penner will work alongside the current facility manager, Brian LePoudre, starting in February of 2019, to make her transition into the position as seamless as possible.
Penner has been a longtime employee of the City of Winkler, and has held the role of community events coordinator, and more recently as the director of recreation, culture and tourism.
Brian LePoudre, who began his career with the municipality in January of 2010, has announced that he will be retiring as facility manager in the spring of 2019.
