Killarney School’s Class of 2022 graduates

BY JAY STRUTH

It was a wonderful and very warm Wednesday afternoon, as 22 Grade 12 students crossed the stage to receive their diplomas this week.

The graduation ceremony on the Killarney School grounds was a fitting tribute to the 2022 grads, who had another less than normal school year, but managed to finish it all off in fine style and restriction free.

Valedictorians Sierra Cuvelier and Russell Outhwaite, who both won multiple awards and scholarships at the ceremony, delivered a heartfelt speech to their graduating class, their teachers, and their parents.

Then it was time for the grand march and the parade around town on flatbed trailers, which has become a tradition since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

With restrictions lifted, it also meant the return of the grad banquet and all it entails.

At the banquet, Halle Kachur and Garrett MacDonald gave the toast to the teachers with the teachers’ response by Mrs. Wendy Lovett. Aiden Heinrichs and Bailey Pauls were in charge of toasting to the grads. Emily Hall and Suzy Merkel delivered the toast to the parents, while Ryan Heinrichs answered back with a toast to the grads.
